WHITEHORSE – The Yukon Party Official Opposition is suggesting the Liberal government revisit and streamline the Better Buildings Program to make it more accessible for rural Yukon communities instead of simply cutting funding. After Yukoners have been slow to access funds, the Liberal government cut $1 million from this year’s program, instead of revising the parameters so it works for users.

Rent Control Policy is Harming Renters and Landlords

WHITEHORSE – The Yukon Party Official Opposition is suggesting the Liberal government stabilize the rental housing market by abandoning their failed rent control policy. Since the Liberal-NDP policy’s introduction, rents have risen significantly, and the number of units has not kept up with demand as investors have been scared off.

Liberals Cut Capital Spending on Housing During Crisis

WHITEHORSE – The Yukon Party Official Opposition is concerned to see a $6 million cut to the housing budget in the Liberal government’s 2023-24 Supplementary Budget tabled last week. Summer of Liberal Rural Health Care Centre Closures Extends to Fall

WHITEHORSE – On Thursday, the Liberal government announced the Pelly Crossing Health Centre would be reducing services starting Friday, September 22, lasting until Thursday, September 28 due to a staffing shortage. The notice says there will be no nurse in the community, and EMS can be called if health services are needed.
