WHITEHORSE – New data from the Yukon Bureau of Statistics (YBS) shows Whitehorse remains among the worst three jurisdictions in Canada for year-over-year inflation rate. After eight consecutive months with the highest inflation rate, the Yukon capital was tied for second highest in August.

Monday’s shocking revelation from the Prime Minister of Canada about the alleged involvement of the Indian government in the killing of a Canadian Sikh leader raises some serious questions about Yukon Premier Ranj Pillai’s ongoing trip to India.

WHITEHORSE – The most recent report on the mishandling of abuse allegations at a Yukon school, entitled ‘Left in the Dark’ from the Yukon Ombudsman is just the latest condemnation of the Liberal government’s handling of this issue. It confirms and supports what we, and many Yukoners have been saying for several years now: that the Liberal government’s actions and response failed victims, families, and the school community.
WHITEHORSE – The Yukon Party Official Opposition is calling on the premier to make his views known about the next rate decision of the Bank of Canada (BoC) before Wednesday’s announcement. So far, the premiers of both British Columbia and Ontario have called on the BoC to hold off on raising interest rates further because of the significant negative affect on their citizens.
WHITEHORSE – The Yukon Party Official Opposition is questioning the reductions in facilities along Yukon’s highway system this summer. We are asking the Liberal government to clarify for Yukoners and the tourism industry why they decided to close many washrooms at rest stops. Instead of supporting travelers, the Liberals are reducing services outside of Whitehorse.
WHITEHORSE – The Yukon Party Official Opposition is urging the territorial Liberals to address the increased cost of housing that will result from releasing unfinished lots in Whistle Bend.
