WHITEHORSE – The Yukon Party Official Opposition is asking the Liberal government to clarify reports about the future of the St. Elias Adult Group Home in Whitehorse. Yukoners have reported that the operating model may be changing at the Hoge Street facility, and that the residents may be relocated.

Immediate Action Needed in Health Human Resources Strategy

WHITEHORSE – The Yukon Party Official Opposition has been repeatedly calling on the government for years to develop a new Health Human Resources Strategy and is glad to see some signs of forward movement on this long-awaited plan. However, while the commitments outlined in the strategy are generally fine enough, what is disappointing is the lack of specific actions and lack of a sense of urgency to address the growing health care crisis.

Yukon Priorities Need to be Pushed at Finance Ministers Meeting

WHITEHORSE – The Yukon Party Official Opposition is calling on Finance Minister Sandy Silver to bring forward the priorities of Yukoners at the federal, provincial, and territorial meeting of Finance Ministers on December 15. In particular, the Yukon Party wants to see the Yukon join with the newly elected Premier of the Northwest Territories in calling for an exemption to the federal Liberal carbon tax.

Public Accounts Reveal Concerning Issues with the Yukon’s Finances

WHITEHORSE – In advance of Friday’s hearing of the Public Accounts Committee, Yukon Party Finance critic Brad Cathers highlighted troublesome information that paints a concerning picture of the territory’s finances stemming from the 2022-2023 Public Accounts. The delayed document was required by law to be tabled by October 31st, but the Liberals and the finance minister broke the Financial Administration Act by tabling it almost a month late.
