Tyler Porter -
Tyler Porter was born and raised in Watson Lake and is a proud Kaska member of the Kaska Dena Territory. A father of two boys, Tyler resides in Teslin and believes deeply in the importance of giving back wherever you live.
Over the years, Tyler has gained a wide range of experience working across health, recreation, project management, and emergency response. These roles have given him a broad understanding of both the challenges and the opportunities that exist in Northern communities. His career has also reinforced his belief that strong leadership means listening, building connections, and finding solutions that reflect the needs of the people.
Porter has always placed a high value on community involvement, whether it’s helping at local events, volunteering, or supporting initiatives that bring people together. He also enjoys spending time outdoors, staying active through sports, and taking part in activities that connect him to both the land and the community.
Driven by the belief that real change only happens when people are willing to step up, Tyler is seeking election as MLA for Southern Lakes. He wants to be a strong voice for rural communities and ensure that Yukoners have the opportunities and resources they need to succeed.
Known for being adaptable, dependable, and approachable, Tyler is committed to bringing people together and building a stronger future for Yukoners living in the beautiful Southern Lakes region.
Southern Lakes
Southern Lakes includes the communities of Carcross, Jake’s Corner, Tagish, Johnson’s Crossing, Teslin, Crag Lake, and the Atlin Road area. Southern Lakes is bordered by the rural districts of Marsh Lake-Mount Lorne-Golden Horn, Kluane, Lake Laberge, and Watson Lake-Ross River-Faro. This is the 6th largest electoral district at 28,329 km2.
