Liberal Inaction Set to Leave Many Yukoners Freezing This Winter

WHITEHORSE – Yukon firewood producers and those who utilize wood as their main source of heat have been pleading with the Liberal government to get firewood-cutting permits out the door, and to plan for harvesting areas. Unfortunately, thanks to the Liberals not addressing this issue, the Yukon is heading for another winter where firewood delivery will be scarce.

ArriveCAN App Needs to Depart

WHITEHORSE – The Yukon Party Official Opposition is calling for the Federal government to discontinue the use of the ineffective ArriveCAN app. We encourage the territorial Liberals to join our call to end the program.

Ukraine Help Desk Helpful as Refugees Land in the Yukon

WHITEHORSE – The Yukon Party Official Opposition applauds the Yukon Government’s work with the local Ukrainian community to welcome refugees to the territory. The introduction of the Ukraine Help Desk and the interpreter program at the Erik Nielsen Whitehorse International Airport are examples of collaborative work with the Yukon’s Ukrainian community to ensure we can help those needing refuge and fleeing the large-scale wholly unprovoked attack by Russia.

Education Minister Needs to Address Health and Safety Report

WHITEHORSE – The Yukon Party Official Opposition is requesting that the Minister of Education outline a plan to address the findings of a Yukon Workers’ Safety and Compensation Board (WSCB) inspection report. The Yukon News reported on Monday that the report “shows the Education department is failing to meet legislation that requires health and safety committee programs in schools. Those programs are legislatively mandated in 18 of the territory’s 36 schools.”
