WHITEHORSE – Ahead of the fall sitting of the Legislative Assembly, the Leader of the Official Opposition Currie Dixon has completed a shadow cabinet shuffle. Additional duties are going to the MLAs for Copperbelt North, Lake Laberge, Kluane, and Porter Creek Centre.
WHITEHORSE – The Yukon Party Official Opposition has requested that the territorial Liberals improve their tardy measures specifically designed to help seniors and elders.
HAINES JUNCTION – On Tuesday, a ceremony was held at the St. Elias Convention Centre to mark the completion of the Trans Canada Trail. The trail, which started construction in 1992 as part of Canada’s 125th birthday celebrations, connects Haines Junction to Pine Lake.
Earlier this week, Statistics Canada released the latest national inflation numbers. They showed that inflation continues to persist at levels more than double the Bank of Canada’s target.

WHITEHORSE – Yukon firewood producers and those who utilize wood as their main source of heat have been pleading with the Liberal government to get firewood-cutting permits out the door, and to plan for harvesting areas. Unfortunately, thanks to the Liberals not addressing this issue, the Yukon is heading for another winter where firewood delivery will be scarce.
WHITEHORSE – The Yukon’s Minister of Education is holding a media availability Tuesday afternoon in which she will provide remarks and take questions.
