Education Minister Needs to Address Health and Safety Report

WHITEHORSE – The Yukon Party Official Opposition is requesting that the Minister of Education outline a plan to address the findings of a Yukon Workers’ Safety and Compensation Board (WSCB) inspection report. The Yukon News reported on Monday that the report “shows the Education department is failing to meet legislation that requires health and safety committee programs in schools. Those programs are legislatively mandated in 18 of the territory’s 36 schools.”

Liberal Government Mismanagement Continues to Delay Housing

WHITEHORSE – A significant contributing factor to the Yukon’s housing affordability crisis is a lack of supply of land available for housing development. This is because of the Liberal government’s inability to keep up with demand due to mismanagement, lack of planning, and delays. The latest example is the continued and chronic delays associated with Phase 6 of Whistle Bend in Whitehorse.

Delays in Riverdale Storm Sewer Project Set to Cause Traffic Nightmare

WHITEHORSE – According to project documents on the Yukon Environmental and Socio-economic Assessment Board (YESAB) website, major roadwork, and storm sewer line repair just south of Selkirk Elementary School in Riverdale were to be completed in 2021. Project documents say the work was to occur with minimal disruption to traffic.
