WHITEHORSE – Yukon’s independent utility regulator, the Yukon Utilities Board, has issued a scathing assessment of the Yukon Liberal’s plans for the Atlin Hydro project. The report, sent to the Liberal Cabinet on October 18, 2022, indicates that the project is very likely to cause electricity rates for Yukoners to increase.

Yukon Party Sticks with Our Clean Future Targets

WHITEHORSE - The Yukon Party Official Opposition has voted for keeping greenhouse gas emissions targets at 30 per cent of 2010 levels by 2030 as outlined by the Our Clean Future climate change strategy. Under legislation passed on Thursday, the Yukon will now have to meet a 45 per cent target that was a product of the Liberal-NDP Confidence and Supply Agreement.

Minister Contravenes Child and Youth Advocate Act

WHITEHORSE – The report from the Child and Youth Advocate Office (CYAO) reveals that the Minister of Education contravened the Child and Youth Advocate Act when she publicly questioned the authority of the Advocate. The report said ‘In refusing to cooperate with the review, the Department of Education was in contravention of the Child and Youth Advocate Act.’
