WHITEHORSE – Since signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Republic of the Philippines in March 2022, the Liberal government has yet to formalize the Terms of Reference with a joint committee to put the MOU into action.
WHITEHORSE – The Yukon Utilities Board (YUB) has confirmed that the Liberal government’s energy plan has cemented a future where Yukoners will be paying for rented diesel power generation into the 2030s in order to meet the territory’s increased energy needs.
WHITEHORSE – Yukon’s independent utility regulator, the Yukon Utilities Board, has issued a scathing assessment of the Yukon Liberal’s plans for the Atlin Hydro project. The report, sent to the Liberal Cabinet on October 18, 2022, indicates that the project is very likely to cause electricity rates for Yukoners to increase.
WHITEHORSE - The Yukon Party Official Opposition has voted for keeping greenhouse gas emissions targets at 30 per cent of 2010 levels by 2030 as outlined by the Our Clean Future climate change strategy. Under legislation passed on Thursday, the Yukon will now have to meet a 45 per cent target that was a product of the Liberal-NDP Confidence and Supply Agreement.
