WHITEHORSE – The Yukon Party Official Opposition is hearing from local doctors that unacceptably long delays by the Liberal government in paying physicians for health care are negatively impacting recruitment and retention efforts and the ability to attract locums.

WHITEHORSE – On behalf of small businesses, and the business community at large, the Yukon Party Official Opposition is seeking certainty from the Yukon government about the minimum wage hike outlined in the Confidence and Supply Agreement (CASA) signed by the territorial Liberals and NDP.

WHITEHORSE – The Yukon Party Official Opposition is asking for the Minister of Energy, Mines and Resources to provide an update on the Atlin Hydro Project after the passing of the January 2023 deadline set by Tlingit Homeland Energy Limited Partnership (THELP). In a November 8 interview with CBC Yukon, a consultant with THELP said if more funding was not secured by January, it would put the project in jeopardy.
WHITEHORSE –The Yukon Party Official Opposition is calling on the premier to raise timely Yukon priorities to the Prime Minister at the upcoming First Ministers’ meeting in Ottawa.
“It is clear why the NDP signed this deal: they get most of their platform implemented despite receiving the fewest number of votes and fewest seats in the Legislature. They also get to keep the hundreds of thousands of dollars that the agreement allocates to staff the NDP office – which is a clear financial incentive for the NDP to sign the agreement.
WHITEHORSE – Yukon Party Official Opposition MLA Stacey Hassard is calling on the new premier to deliver on his transparency commitment to Yukon contractors. During the Yukon Chamber of Commerce debate in the 2021 territorial election, the new premier agreed the opening of tenders with contractors in the room seemed like a good idea and committed his party to act on it. So far, this policy has not come to fruition leaving contractors questioning the process.
