WHITEHORSE – The Yukon Party Official Opposition is calling on the Liberal government to be open with the public about its plans for a managed alcohol program, and to consult before launching it. The program was a commitment made by the Liberal government in the 2023 Confidence and Supply Agreement (CASA) with the NDP.
WHITEHORSE – The Yukon Party Official Opposition is concerned about the recent announcement by the Liberal government regarding the Takhini River Bridge project. The announcement seems to have missed dealing with the public’s top concern of traffic safety.
WHITEHORSE – The Yukon Party Official Opposition is asking the Liberal government to clarify reports about the future of the St. Elias Adult Group Home in Whitehorse. Yukoners have reported that the operating model may be changing at the Hoge Street facility, and that the residents may be relocated.
WHITEHORSE – The Yukon Party Official Opposition is urging the Liberal government to update Yukoners and the private sector on the process of developing new housing units on the lot located at 5th and Rogers in downtown Whitehorse.
WHITEHORSE – The Yukon Party Official Opposition has been repeatedly calling on the government for years to develop a new Health Human Resources Strategy and is glad to see some signs of forward movement on this long-awaited plan. However, while the commitments outlined in the strategy are generally fine enough, what is disappointing is the lack of specific actions and lack of a sense of urgency to address the growing health care crisis.
WHITEHORSE – The Yukon Party Official Opposition is calling on Finance Minister Sandy Silver to bring forward the priorities of Yukoners at the federal, provincial, and territorial meeting of Finance Ministers on December 15. In particular, the Yukon Party wants to see the Yukon join with the newly elected Premier of the Northwest Territories in calling for an exemption to the federal Liberal carbon tax.
