WHITEHORSE – The chaotic start to Premier Pillai’s tenure continues with the appointment of another Deputy Minister of the Executive Council Office. The premier’s latest appointment follows the abrupt departure of the previous deputy minister on May 1. He resigned after less than four months in that top job.

WHITEHORSE – On Saturday, May 6, over 70 Yukon Party members from across the territory gathered in Whitehorse for the party’s 2023 Annual General Meeting. It was a chance for members to catch up on what has been happening over the past year, and conduct annual party business.

Yukon Plummets to 20th Place in Fraser Institute Mining Rankings

WHITEHORSE – The 2022 Fraser Institute Mining Rankings are out and it does not paint a pretty picture for the territorial Liberals. The report says, “Due to its geologic attractiveness, the Yukon ranked 20th in the overall Investment Attractiveness Index, falling from the 9th spot it occupied in 2021.” Botswana has replaced Yukon in the top ten.

Yukon Party Raising Lot Development Concerns for Yukoners

WHITEHORSE – The Yukon Party Official Opposition is concerned the Minister of Community Services is transferring development risks to Yukoners purchasing lots in an attempt to compensate for delays. The reactionary Liberal government is far behind on their promise to deliver 1000 new lots during this mandate due to the Ministers’ decisions since the 2021 general election.

Liberals Disrespect Sport Community With Plans for New Elementary School

WHITEHORSE – The Yukon Party Official Opposition is again calling on the Liberal government to reconsider the location of a replacement École Whitehorse Elementary School (EWES) and meaningfully consult with Yukoners on the new location. The renewed request follows a letter to the territorial Liberals from Softball Yukon and Sport Yukon who objected to the consultation process and raised serious concerns about the impacts on sport programs and sport tourism.

Citizens’ Assembly Concept Supported By Only 11 per cent of Yukoners

WHITEHORSE – Now that the Special Committee on Electoral Reform has tabled its final report, the Yukon Party Official Opposition is calling for the Liberal government to focus on issues that are a priority for more than 11 per cent of Yukon citizens. Over 82 per cent of Yukoners did not participate in the most recent survey.
