WHITEHORSE – Yukon’s first Filipina MLA, Yvonne Clarke, will run in the new electoral district of Whistle Bend North for the Yukon Party in the 2025 territorial election.
In February, Clarke was confirmed as the candidate for Porter Creek Centre, where she was first elected in 2021. However, with the Electoral Boundaries Commission's redesigned ridings splitting Porter Creek Centre three ways, Clarke had the option to choose which riding she would run in under Yukon Party rules.
“I have thoroughly enjoyed representing all residents of Porter Creek Centre over the past four years,” said Clarke. “Whistle Bend has grown substantially during my time in office, and I have worked with residents on issues such as traffic, lot development, and green streets. I am choosing to run to represent the residents of Whistle Bend North so I can continue our work on these important issues as the neighbourhood develops and becomes the new home for many Yukon families.”
As per the Yukon Party constitution, riding nomination processes and timing, including for Porter Creek Centre and the new riding of Whistle Bend South, will be announced electronically through local media and to party members. Once a nomination opens, it will not close before 14 days after the notice.
