Yukon Party Leader Currie Dixon Ready for 2025 Territorial Election

Whitehorse, Yukon – On Monday, January 6, Yukon Party Leader Currie Dixon officially announced his candidacy to represent Copperbelt North in the next territorial election which is legislated to be held on or before November 3 of this year. The Yukon Party constitution does not require its leader to seek their riding nomination.

“As we have entered 2025, Yukoners know there will be a territorial election this year and the Yukon Party is prepared to provide Yukoners with the change in government approach they are seeking,” said Dixon. “I am excited to start announcing our strong and diverse team over the coming weeks and months. I want Yukoners to know we recognize what they are facing and that long overdue change starts now.”

Dixon, born and raised in the Yukon, is the married father of two young children. He brings a lifelong commitment to the well-being of the territory to his role; paired with a depth of both public and private sector experience and a fierce dedication to the community and his constituents in Copperbelt North.

“Yukoners are facing cost of living challenges, failing health care and education systems, increased crime, and dwindling services in rural Yukon,” added Dixon. “The Yukon Party is ready to repair the damage caused over the past nine years of the territorial Liberal government deeply harming how we strive to live and work. We are ready to reclaim and support an environment of pride and prosperity for the Yukon.”

In government, Dixon looks forward to working with Yukoners. This will bring change from current Liberal/NDP actions that have failed to meaningfully engage nor provide outcomes that benefit residents and businesses throughout the territory.

Further Yukon Party nomination processes will be announced via Yukon media and electronically to party members as per the Yukon Party constitution. To learn more about the Yukon Party and how to support its efforts, please visit yukonparty.ca
