WHITEHORSE – The Yukon Party is beginning the first full week of the 2021 territorial election campaign by unveiling the framework of its platform Action for a Change.
Leader Currie Dixon made the announcement accompanied by Geraldine Van Bibber, the Yukon Party candidate for Porter Creek North. The Yukon Party’s Action Plan is comprised of three pillars: Economic Recovery, Supporting Yukon Families, and Safe and Growing Communities. The pillars will be supported by the foundation of Good Governance.
During the launch, Dixon unveiled some of the actions a Yukon Party government will take to kickstart the territory’s economic recovery and provide clarity to Yukoners, their families, and Yukon businesses. Those include:
Other focuses of Yukon’s economic recovery will include attracting new visitation to the Yukon by promoting the territory as a sport-event destination including beginning the process to host the 2027 Canada Winter Games.
“This election is going to be about who Yukoners trust to lead the territory out of the pandemic and into a prosperous future,” Dixon said. “In the short-term we need to ensure our small businesses can survive and we will do this by providing certainty, transparency, and accountability through a clear and consistent path forward.
Yukoners have told us they want Action for a Change and our team is ready to deliver.” Today’s announcement is only one piece of the Yukon Party’s Action Plan, which will be unveiled over the coming days and weeks.
