WHITEHORSE – The Yukon Party has now confirmed a full slate of candidates. The party rounded out its slate by appointing Tyler Porter as the candidate for Southern Lakes.
Porter is the Director of Business Development for Yukon First Nations Wildfire and is a Kaska citizen born and raised in Watson Lake. He is an Emergency Management Professional who has also worked with Yukon Emergency Medical Services and Yukon Wildland Fire Management. He was previously the health director for the Daylu Dena Council.
Leader Currie Dixon and his team executed his plan to recruit committed Yukoners who are leaders in different fields, sectors and communities.
“I believe Yukoners will see themselves represented in our team and see that our group is undoubtedly best equipped and experienced to be the next government,” said Dixon. “Together we have been listening to Yukoners and putting together a platform that reflects our shared values. I look forward to the campaign, and I encourage Yukoners to find out more information about their Yukon Party candidate and our vision in the coming weeks.”
“Currie’s vision has brought together a collection of Yukoners who have already accomplished much for their communities,” said Campaign Chair Geraldine Van Bibber. “That work was focused on recruiting the best candidates and has resulted in a diverse group. The slate is truly reflective of the Yukon, with 10 women candidates, leaders from their communities across the territory, as well as accomplished First Nation and Filipino Yukoners.”
