Yukon Legislative Assembly Summons Eagle Gold Receiver as a Witness

WHITEHORSE – Senior officials from PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) – the court-appointed receiver in charge of the Eagle Gold Mine – have been summoned to appear as witnesses in the Yukon Legislative Assembly before the 2025 Spring Sitting concludes. The Yukon Party Official Opposition brought forward a motion to the Legislative Assembly to have PwC appear, and that motion passed unanimously.

The motion, introduced by Energy, Mines and Resources critic and Copperbelt South MLA Scott Kent reads as follows:

THAT from 3:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. on a date during the 2025 Spring Sitting of the Yukon Legislative Assembly to be determined by House Leaders and reported to the Legislative Assembly by the Government House Leader, Michelle Grant, senior vice-president, and another senior official from PricewaterhouseCoopers, appear as witnesses before Committee of the Whole to answer questions regarding the receivership, operations, and management of the Eagle Gold mine site.

“Yukoners are rightly concerned about the environmental and economic situation at the Eagle Gold mine,” said Kent. “With over 200 million dollars of taxpayer money now earmarked for the work, Yukoners need to know what’s going on at the mine site. MLAs will be able to question officials from PwC in a public forum before the Spring sitting wraps up and get a clearer picture of what their money is being spent on and the progress to clean up the site.”
