Statement from the Yukon Party Caucus on the Yukon’s Commissioner

“I want to thank outgoing Commissioner Angélique Bernard for her service to the Yukon.

“Her work over the past five years will live on for generations of Yukoners. She raised the profile of the Commissioner’s office, made it a welcoming space for everyone, and carried out her duties will dignity and class, while retaining that humble Yukon spirit.

“I wish Madame Bernard well in her future endeavours.

“My Caucus and I would like to welcome Adeline Webber as the new Commissioner.

“Webber is well-suited for the job as she served as the territory’s Administrator since 2018.

“She brings a longstanding knowledge of public service as a champion and advocate for Indigenous peoples, with a focus on women’s rights.

“Congratulations to the new Commissioner, and I look forward to working with her in the future.”

- Leader Currie Dixon.

“I extend my gratitude to Angélique Bernard for her tenure as Commissioner of the Yukon.

“Madame Bernard adapted to serving as Commissioner during the pandemic with grace and dignity. A usual Commissioner’s tenure includes many in-person social events and meetings. She was able to fulfill her duties with the help of modern technology and continued to share so many great ideas with Yukoners.

“Whatever is next for Angélique, we wish her and her family the best.

“Congratulations to Adeline Webber on her appointment as Commissioner of the Yukon.

“This is a wonderful choice. As each Commissioner brings their own unique personality to the position, I know Adeline will do an outstanding job.

“Not only is she well known throughout the territory, she has experience in National and International events that will do her well in representing Yukoners at all levels.

“As former Administrator and Commissioner, I wish you both well.”

- Geraldine Van Bibber, CM, MLA Porter Creek North.
