Whitehorse, Yukon – Scott Kent, current Member of the Yukon Legislative Assembly (MLA) for Copperbelt South, is formally seeking the Yukon Party nomination to once again represent the riding in the next territorial election, which must be held on or before November 3.
A graduate of F.H. Collins High School, he has served the residents and businesses of Copperbelt South as a Yukon Party Official Opposition MLA since November 2016 and was a Yukon Party Cabinet Minister and MLA representing Riverdale North from 2011.
“My young son is entering his teen years, and I want to ensure he’ll be able to enjoy the quality of life and opportunities I had growing up here in the Yukon,” says Kent. “Yukoners seek a change in government and with the invaluable support of the constituents of Copperbelt South, I’m highly motivated to help the Yukon Party win the next territorial election.”
As per the Yukon Party constitution, riding nomination processes and their timing, including that for Copperbelt South, will be announced through local media and to party members electronically. Once a nomination opens, it will not close before 14 days of the notice.
“It has been an honour and privilege to serve the constituents of Copperbelt South” adds Kent. “If successful in securing the riding’s nomination, I will work tirelessly to help repair the damage inflicted by the Liberal government on Yukoners’ livelihoods, our health care practitioners and educators, our private sector, and most fundamentally, our future generations.”
