Rose Sellars Seeks Yukon Party Nomination in Riverdale North

WHITEHORSE – Recent candidate for Council of Yukon First Nations Grand Chief, Rose Sellars, has announced she is seeking the Yukon Party nomination for the riding of Riverdale North in the 2025 territorial election, which must be called on or before October 3.

Sellars is a born-and-raised Yukoner who is a member of the Carcross/Tagish First Nation (CTFN). She is currently the Indigenous Partnerships Manager with the Yukon Environmental and Socio-economic Assessment Board. Her previous political experience includes 12 years sitting on General Council with CTFN. She has worked for First Nations, as well as Federal, territorial, and municipal governments, mostly in managerial roles. Sellars has also spent time in the private sector, including owning a Real Estate company for over 20 years. She has served as an executive director for two non-governmental organizations.

The married mother of one daughter has also sat on a variety of community boards and committees. Catering to her love of the outdoors and animals, she currently serves as a board member with the Yukon Fish and Game Association.

“I am at a point in my life where I can fully dedicate my time and energy to serving Yukoners in the Legislative Assembly,” said Sellars. “I believe that no one person holds all the answers.  It takes collaboration, diverse perspectives, and shared ideas to create the kind of innovation and progress we need to move the Yukon’s priorities forward."

As per the Yukon Party constitution, riding nomination processes and timing will be announced electronically to party members. To date, Yukon Party candidates have been confirmed in 12 of 21 ridings, with nominations currently open in Riverdale North, Mountainview, Whitehorse West and Watson Lake-Ross River-Faro.
