Rose Sellars Acclaimed as Yukon Party Candidate in Riverdale North

WHITEHORSE – Rose Sellars will be the Yukon Party candidate in Riverdale North for the 2025 territorial election, which must be called on or before October 3. Sellars was acclaimed after the deadline to submit nominations passed at 5 p.m. on August 26.

The long-time Riverdale resident and Carcross/Tagish First Nation (CTFN) citizen was most recently a candidate for Council of Yukon First Nations Grand Chief. She is currently the Indigenous Partnerships Manager with the Yukon Environmental and Socio-economic Assessment Board (YESAB). Her previous experience includes working for First Nations as well as federal, territorial and municipal governments, and time in the private sector as the owner of a real estate company.

“I am eager to hear the issues and priorities of Riverdale North residents,” said Sellars. “I feel with my background and experience, I would be a strong voice for Riverdale North in the Legislative Assembly as a part of Currie Dixon’s Yukon Party team. I look forward to connecting with residents of Riverdale North in the coming weeks ahead of the election.”

With Sellars’ acclamation, Yukon Party candidates are confirmed in 15 of 21 ridings. Nominations are currently open in Whitehorse Centre and Marsh Lake-Mount Lorne-Golden Horn, and on Thursday, August 28, party members in Whitehorse West will vote to select their candidate. This voting process is not open to the public or media.
