WHITEHORSE – Peter Grundmanis will represent the Yukon Party in the Mountainview riding during the 2025 territorial election, which must be called on or before October 3. Grundmanis was acclaimed after the 5 p.m. nomination period deadline passed on August 21.
Grundmanis, a longtime Yukon educator and sports advocate, has lived in the riding for decades. He spent most of his teaching career at FH Collins Secondary and was involved in the Yukon’s sports community as an administrator, coach and official.
“This is just one step in the process to represent the residents of Mountainview in the Legislative Assembly,” said Grundmanis. “I am looking forward to hearing from residents on the doorstep to hear their issues and concerns in the coming weeks and months. I am pleased to be a part of the Yukon Party team led by Currie Dixon, as we look to bring change to the Yukon.”
As per the Yukon Party constitution, riding nomination processes and timing will be announced electronically to party members. After Grundmanis, Yukon Party candidates are confirmed in 14 of 21 ridings. Nominations are currently open in Whitehorse Centre, Marsh Lake-Mount Lorne-Golden Horn, and Riverdale North. A contested nomination will be held to determine the candidate in Whitehorse West, with a vote among party members in the riding taking place on Thursday, August 28.
