WHITEHORSE – Engineering consultant and entrepreneur Keith Jacobsen has announced he is seeking the Yukon Party nomination for Whitehorse Centre in the 2025 territorial election, which must be called on or before October 3.
The born and raised Yukoner has a diverse background in both the Yukon’s private sector and national engineering projects. True to his engineering roots and sense of community, he volunteers as a judge for high school robotics competitions. He has also served on the Rendezvous board and participated as a Sourdough Sam.
“Downtown Whitehorse is the heart of our capital city, and it deserves strong representation,” said Jacobsen. “I bring the right balance of open-minded engagement with people from all walks of life, combined with a practical approach to knowing first-hand what it means to own and operate businesses here, and the opportunities and challenges. I’m eager to tackle the rising cost of living, revitalize downtown, and bring positive change for Yukoners as part of Currie Dixon’s Yukon Party team.”
As per the Yukon Party constitution, riding nomination processes and timing will be announced electronically to party members. To date, Yukon Party candidates are confirmed in 13 of 21 ridings. In addition to Whitehorse Centre, nominations are also currently open in Marsh Lake-Mount Lorne-Golden Horn, Riverdale North, and Mountainview. A contested nomination will be held to determine the candidate in Whitehorse West, with a vote among party members in the riding taking place on Thursday, August 28.
