Jen Gehmair Seeks YP Nomination in Marsh Lake-Mount Lorne-Golden Horn

WHITEHORSE – Current senior public servant, Jen Gehmair, has announced her intention to seek the Yukon Party nomination in Marsh Lake-Mount Lorne-Golden Horn in the upcoming territorial election, which must be called before October 3.

Whitehorse-born, Gehmair brings extensive experience from the public sector, serving in a wide range of senior leadership roles in the Executive Council Office and the Department of Health and Social Services. These roles were focused on fostering meaningful partnerships, developing pragmatic solutions, and promoting the Yukon’s interests and aspirations on the national stage. She is currently the Assistant Deputy Minister of Social Services, where she has taken leave to seek the nomination.

Gehmair, who grew up on the shores of Marsh Lake, where she lives with her husband and three daughters, is an active and engaged member of her community. She has volunteered as an emergency medical responder in Marsh Lake as well as with the Marsh Lake Community Association Board and Emergency Services Board. Gehmair is also active with her daughters’ school community at Golden Horn Elementary.

“I am deeply drawn to the strong sense of community and pride that Yukoners embody and am inspired by the culture, compassion, and grit that are woven into the fabric of our communities,” said Gehmair. “My public service career has been rooted in honesty, authenticity and collaboration. If I secure the nomination, I will work with Currie Dixon and his Yukon Party team to prioritize policies that support all families, protect the environment, improve access to quality education and health care, and strengthen the economy.”

As per the Yukon Party constitution, riding nomination processes and timing will be announced electronically to party members. To date, Yukon Party candidates are confirmed in 12 of 21 ridings, with nominations currently open in Marsh Lake-Mount Lorne-Golden Horn, Riverdale North, Mountainview, Whitehorse West and Watson Lake-Ross River-Faro.
