Motion No. 93 urges the Government of Yukon to begin planning with other governments on a large future residential development in Whitehorse. It was introduced by Adam Gerle, Member for Porter Creek South. The motion was amended on the floor of the house and reads as follows:
THAT this House urges the Government of Yukon to work with the City of Whitehorse, Kwanlin Dün First Nation, and Ta’an Kwäch’än Council to plan for the next residential development beyond Whistle Bend, including:
(1) ensuring that the necessary infrastructure is available;
(2) planning for a second bridge in Whitehorse; and
(3) engaging the Government of Canada as needed to plan, finance, and construct a bridge in Whitehorse.
Motion No. 95 asks the Government of Yukon to engage Yukoners on the use of social media platforms by youth. It was introduced by Tyler Porter, Member for Southern Lakes, and reads as follows:
THAT this House urges the Government of Yukon to seek the opinions of Yukoners to inform any policies of the Government of Canada on whether and how to limit the use of social media platforms for people 16 years of age and under.
Motion No. 91 puts forth the idea of planning a continuing care facility in Watson Lake. It was introduced by Patti McLeod, Member for Watson Lake-Ross River-Faro and reads as follows:
THAT this House urges the Government of Yukon to begin planning a continuing care facility in Watson Lake.
Motion No. 59 was introduced by Adam Gerle, Member for Porter Creek South. It calls on the Yukon Legislative Assembly to reduce barriers to direct-to-consumer alcohol sales and shipping of alcohol.
THAT this House supports efforts to establish a national framework allowing Canadians to receive Canadian-made alcohol across provincial boundaries through approved carriers and the direct-to-consumer shipping of alcohol.
“We’re pleased these motions passed unanimously and appreciate the support of all Members of the Legislative Assembly,” said Adam Gerle, Chair, Yukon Party Caucus. “We’re confident these issues are important to Yukoners and look forward to discussing them further during this Session.”
