Aurora Viernes Acclaimed as Yukon Party Candidate in Riverdale South

WHITEHORSE – Health care worker and small business owner Aurora Viernes will represent the Yukon Party on the ballot in the 2025 territorial election in Riverdale South. Viernes was acclaimed as the candidate as no other nominations were submitted before the 5 p.m. deadline on June 17.

Viernes, (veer-NESS), a former president of the Canadian Filipino Association of the Yukon, has lived in the territory and Riverdale for 30 years. For the past 25 years, she has cared for Yukoners as a nursing home attendant with the Yukon Government. In addition, Viernes has owned and operated a janitorial services company since 1998.

“I am humbled to be the Yukon Party candidate for Riverdale South,” said Viernes. “I am looking forward to getting out and connecting with residents in the riding to hear about their issues and concerns. I am excited to join Currie Dixon’s team as we work toward forming the next territorial government and delivering the change Yukoners are looking for.”

The next territorial election must be held on or before November 3.

As per the Yukon Party constitution, riding nomination processes and timing will be announced electronically to party members.
