WHITEHORSE – A Leger poll commissioned by the Yukon Party in August found that Yukoners are ready to change government and usher in Currie Dixon’s team to lead the territory. Yukoners indicated they were deciding between the territorial Liberals and NDP as the Official Opposition.
The Yukon Party’s lead widened to 13 points, and it now appears that the two-horse race is for Official Opposition. The numbers show a small rebound for the Yukon Liberals under new leader Mike Pemberton, largely at the expense of Kate White’s NDP, who are now only five points ahead of the incumbent government.
The Yukon Party remains in the lead at 43%, followed by the NDP at 30% and the Liberals at 25%. Other parties polled at 1% support.
“Our candidates are a talented mix of dedicated Yukoners who represent all sectors of the territory,” said Dixon. “The Yukon Party team is ready to offer positive change to Yukoners. We look forward to sharing our policies and values with them over the coming weeks as we outline a vision for the territory over the next 5 years.”
Conducted between August 20 and 27, Leger conducted landline and cell phone interviews with 500 Yukoners. The poll has a margin of error of ±4.4%, 19 times out of 20.
