WHITEHORSE – Jen Gehmair will represent the Yukon Party in the riding of Marsh Lake-Mount Lorne-Golden Horn in the 2025 territorial election, which must be called on or before October 3. No other party members stepped forward to seek the nomination in the riding before the 5 p.m. deadline on August 28.
Gehmair is currently the Assistant Deputy Minister of Social Services, where she has taken a leave to pursue a seat in the Legislative Assembly. The born and raised Yukoner has also served as a senior official in the Executive Council Office and Health and Social Services. Gehmair has also given back to her community of Marsh Lake through various volunteer roles.
“It would be an honour to represent the residents of Marsh Lake-Mount Lorne-Golden Horn in the Legislative Assembly,” said Gehmair. “I look forward to meeting with Yukoners in the riding to hear their challenges and concerns in the coming weeks. I can’t wait to get to work as part of Currie Dixon’s Yukon Party team.”
With Gehmair’s acclamation, Yukon Party candidates are confirmed in 16 of 21 ridings. Nominations are currently open in Whitehorse Centre, and at 6 p.m. today, party members in Whitehorse West will vote to select their candidate. This voting process is not open to the public or media.
